The issue of one’s gender or sex is always an issue in establishing one’s validity in enjoying an activity. This issue is derived from constructs of masculinity and femininity; from sports to video games, the implication of being a female in a supposedly “male-dominate” activity has no middle ground. When one is identified as a female who participates in the gaming world, the reaction is varied but rather narrow. Heterosexual men would either ogle or demean you. Either you were a unicorn or a horse wearing a papier-maché horn. You end up playing the game with special privileges or they would call you an attention-grabbing slut. Your identity and everything about you is derived from your gender. Even growing up as a female, one ends up thinking they are a “special snowflake.” To be female and a gamer is supposedly an especial niche in the world…

I picked up Skyrim in the first time in ages the other day. After getting back to grips with this amazing masterpiece, I recalled getting married last time I checked. Oh yes, its Barton again. Not since the days of when she was delightfully killed off The O.C did the audience rejoice. Since then the lost star has been not only featured in the pages of our latest magazines with a bouncy weight gain/loss but the star is now back on her feet starring in the latest indie film with hottie Ryan Eggold in ‘I Will Follow You Into The Dark’.
OK lets admit, the thought of Barton gracing our screens with that little to nothing trait she calls acting is a little disappointing, however the storyline is intriguing and with a look into the dark side/the other side of death, we can’t help but watch the trailer from beginning to end.

This may make us feel disappointed, but either way, if the movie doesn’t do justice lest we remember the scene where Marissa played out her fateful death in…
